The Carrion Crown
The Drowned Men
During the initial push of the Whispering Tyrant during the Shining Crusade a small town on Lake Lias was burned to the ground. All the people who survived the initial attack were captured and tortured for days. Ultimately, those that survived were given a choice of a quick death to be raised in the army of the Tyrant, or to be subjected to unending pain and torment. Many people chose the quick death, but a few brave people decided that they would rather endure eternal torment then be part of the army marching on the rest of the world. Those brave men chose torment and pain, yet had no idea of the torture that would befall them. Bound and gagged they were drowned in the lake, only to be raised from the dead, repeatedly until they succumbed to the constant torment, locking their souls in the waters of the lake.
In the years that followed the Shining Crusade, the location of the old town had been rebuilt with little regard for the past history of torture and torment. The new town is Ravengro and during the new moon people claim to hear the muffled screams, and sounds of drowning from the edge of the lake in the darkness of the night.
